Landscape arch has the longest span of any in north america at 306 feet and double arch reaches 112 feet at its peak. It requires a 3 mile round trip hike to get up close and personal to the arch but the hike is worth it. But don t confuse double arch with double o arch which is located further away in the devils garden area of the park. The original plan did not call for the arches but rather a retaining wall was to be built and then fill added to span the gap in the mountain face. This was by far my favourite hike in arches national park. This hike is considered difficult because of the lack of shade and the potential for slippery rock in bad weather.
